Earth Day Hamilton-Burlington is a volunteer driven organization delivering an amazing lineup of environmental events that are education and action based.


Volunteers can join up with the committee and help organize and plan, or simply help out on the day of our events! Have fun while helping the environment and receive a certificate for hours.  Please register above.

 

Our events:


Tim Hortons Eco-Festival

April 19, 20, 21, 2010 at the Royal Botanical Gardens

Time Commitment: Volunteer 1 or more days from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm


Jobs:

  • Eco-Festival Class Guides: (majority of positions) lead and stay with one class throughout the day, getting them to their destinations of workshops, exhibition, guided nature hikes   

  • Exhibition supervisor: check-in exhibitors and gets them set up at their tables.  Looks after that section all day

  • Workshop supervisor: check-in presenters and get them set up in their assigned locations.  Look after them all day 

  • Registration/Information desk:  class registration, information, lost and found, communications central 

  • Volunteer management: sign in volunteers, issue equipment, oversee volunteer hospitality

  • Runners & other miscellaneous jobs

 

Eco-Festival Orientation Date:

Monday, April 12, 5:30 pm or 7:00 pm @ Royal Botanical Gardens, Main Centre, Plains Road in Burlington

 

Tim Hortons Earth Day 5K Walk and Fun Run

Saturday April 24, 2010 at Bayfront Park  

Time Commitment: 7:30 am until 11:00am. After 11:00 am, take our free shuttle to the Tree Planting Festival to volunteer there or plant trees! 


The Walk is is held on the same day as our Community Tree Planting. The Walk begins at Bayfront Park and finishes at the Tree Planting.

Wednesday, April 14, 
at Bayfront Park (off lower parking lot), 5:30 pm. In case of rain, please go to the Nicholas Mancini Centre at 44 Hunt Street in Hamilton.

Earth Day Community Tree Planting Festival

Saturday April 24, 2010, Churchill Park, Westdale 

Time Commitment:  Volunteer 7:30 am t 4:30 pm (or do a 4-hour early or late shift)

Event is a combination festival and tree planting to restore an area needing remediation.  Activities are set up so that people can make a day of it [horse drawn wagon rides, live raptor displays, music, drum circle, food, environmental displays and workshops, and much more).

Tree Planting Orientation

Wednesday, April 14, at Churchill Park, 85 Oak Knoll Drive and the Aviary, Hamilton, 6:30 pm.

Instant Forest®

Thursday April 22

Marking the 40th anniversary of international Earth Day.  A planting event for the youth of Hamilton.  Adult "Planting Leaders" needed to instruct and supervise.

 

Instant Forest® Orientation:

Wednesday April 14 at 7pm at Churchill Park, 85 Oak Knoll Drive at the Aviary, Hamilton.

Earth Day Committee Volunteers

Volunteer with us for a day - or choose longer term committee work. We meet once a month from September til June in a central location. It is fun and rewarding.

NOTE: Participants under the age of 18 and unaccompanied by an adult must have a parent or guardian sign their registration form. This includes all participants under the age of 18 that have signed up with the Large Group Registration Form. A permission form can be downloaded here for distribution to group members.
