Tim Hortons Earth Day Walk and Fun Run
Saturday, April 24, 2010
Bayfront Park to Churchill Park
Registration at 8:45am; Walk begins at 10:00am
The 4th annual Tim Hortons Earth Day 5K Walk/Fun Run's destination is the annual Sunoco Earth Day Community Tree Planting Festival. At the finish line, participants have the opportunity to help improve the environment by planting trees to restore the urban woodland in this area and then joining in all of the fun activities of the festival.
Prizes for fastest male and fastest female (fundraising) runners. All funds raised from the Walk go towards environmental education at the multi-day Eco-Festival at the Royal Botanical Gardens. Inner city and suburban students connect with nature first-hand on guided nature hikes and in wildlife presentations; take part in a full compliment of workshops; and learn about solutions to pressing environmental issues, empowering them to become environmental leaders. Both transportation and admission to the Eco-festival are provided free, so that ALL students can attend.
